MotoGP to allow 1000cc Production Superbike Engines in 2012 Dec 11th - The FIM issued an update today on 2010 GP Technical Regulations for the 2010 racing season which finalized details for the new 600cc spec engine GP2 Class, but also revealed the MotoGP Championship's intention to return the premier MotoGP Class to larger 1000cc 4-cylinder engines beginning with the 2012 race season.More HERE

IDM Red Bull and Akrapovic Limited Editions also available Long Beach, CA, December 2nd – KTM North America, Inc. will unveil the two newest street models, the KTM 1190 RC8 R IDM Red Bull and Akrapovic Limited Editions, at the Long Beach International Motorcycle Show December 4-6 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
2010 will mark the first year that KTM has brought the highly publicized 1190 RC8 R motorcycle to the United States. After a successful year in Europe, the bike will be sold to the US public in 2010 in its standard ‘R’ form as well as in two limited editions, the IDM Red Bull version and the Akrapovic version.
These 1195cc, 75 º V-twin, 170hp ‘R’ model machines include a host of engine upgrades to fulfill the fantasy of most all track day riders. The Motocourse Annual covers both MotoGP and World Superbike, as well as the Superbike Championships in top countries like Britain and the USA. Teen Supermodels Go Topless in the new 2010 Pirelli Calendar January 1st 2010 - The 2010 Pirelli Calendar, now in its 37th edition, was presented to the press and to guests and collectors from around the world, at its global premiere in London. The much-awaited appointment with 'The Cal', a cult object for over 40 years, was held this year at Old Billingsgate, the suggestive late 19th century building on the banks of the Thames, where from 1875 to 1982 it housed the capital city's fish market.
Following China, immortalized by Patrick Demarchelier in the 2008 edition, and Botswana shot by Peter Beard a year later, 2010 is the year of Brazil and of American photographer Terry Richardson, the celebrated "enfant terrible" known for his provocative and outrageous approach.

The 2010 edition is a clear expression and Terry Richardson is its interpreter: he portrays figures without frills, removed from complicated and artificial contexts set by fashion trends. The setting has no showy backgrounds or schemes, in line with the photographer's simplicity and focus on the essential. "A great photographer," says Richardson, "captures the moment - that's why I shoot without extra equipment and without assistants. My technique is the absence of technique: the lens is my eye, my charisma, my ability to capture moments of truth, whatever they may be, picture angles, use of color, light, scenery - these have always been the essential aspects of my photographic art."
In the 30 images that scan the months of 2010, Terry Richardson depicts a return to a playful, pure Eros. Through his lens he runs after fantasies and provokes, but with a simplicity that sculpts and captures the sunniest side of femininity. He portrays a woman who is captivating because she is natural, who plays with stereotypes in order to undo them, who makes irony the only veil she covers herself with. This is a return to the natural, authentic atmospheres and images of the '60s and '70s. It is a clear homage to the Calendar's origins, a throwback to the first editions by Robert Freeman (1964), Brian Duffy (1965) and Harry Peccinotti (1968 and 1969).

The Pirelli Calendar is distributed primarily in Europe as a gift to corporate and industry friends. It's production budget is usually close to $1 million dollars to photograph, design and print just 10,000 copies. It has never been offered for sale to the general public. And because of the current sexual harassment lawsuit mentality in America, U.S. Pirelli has very limited distribution, if any, of The Calendar in the USA. However, you can find boot leg copies of the 2010 Pirelli Calendar from Europe on Ebay.com selling for between $200-300.
Paris Vogue 2010 Calendar
For those of us who can't afford to score a copy of the 2010 Pirelli Calendar, we recommend the complimentary 2010 Paris Vogue Calendar which is included free with the January 2010 issue of Vogue magazine ($10.95) found on most major news stands. The Vogue Calendar is much more artistic and creative than Pirelli's, and the fact it is published by the world's largest women's fashion magazine makes it socially acceptable to hang up almost anywhere despite the nudity.
Interestingly enough, this year's Pirelli Calendar photographer Terry Richardson also shot last's year's 2009 Paris Vogue Calendar. The Vogue Calendars's pictures are much more artistic, sexy and creatively styled, thanks to the magazine's editorial staff helping with the shoots, while this year's Richardson photographed 2010 Pirelli Calendar looks much less creative and pre-planed in its shoots.

New Team Manager at BMW Motorrad Motorsport World Superbike
Munich/Stephanskirchen, 07January 2010. - BMW Motorrad Motorsport is restructuring its team management in the Superbike World Championship. Davide Tardozzi (50) has been appointed to a senior position at Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport with immediate effect. The Italian will head up team management and operational control at the race tracks in the Superbike World Championship.
Up to now, Rainer Bumel (43) has been responsible for engineering, team management and team organisation in his capacity as BMW Motorrad Motorsport Project Manager in the Superbike World Championship. Bumel will continue as Head of Project Management and Project Management Engineering.
The collaboration between BMW Motorrad Motorsport and Tardozzi is part of a package of measures aimed at optimising the competitiveness of BMW Motorrad Motorsport in the Superbike World Championship. In his role as Team Manager, Tardozzi will look after the operational management of the team at races and tests, act as an interface between the team and the promoters and organisers of the Superbike World Championship, and provide a link to suppliers.
"I am delighted finally to be able to announce our partnership with Davide Tardozzi," said BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director Berthold Hauser. "The new structure ensures that the team will be well set up for the future. Team management and team organisation are important areas in which we can see further potential for improvement. The key here is to approach every situation in a structured and target-led way. This applies to both general processes and tactical decisions with a direct influence over performance. With his many years of experience in the sport, Davide will play a decisive role here. At the same time, the restructuring will allow Rainer Bumel to fully focus on the core areas of overall project management and engineering."
Tardozzi said: "I imagine a lot of people will be surprised to hear of my decision to join BMW. However, for me the decision was simple. I had offers from MotoGP, but my heart is in the Superbike World Championship and I feel at home here. BMW Motorrad Motorsport is a young and hungry team, and that gives me the challenge I have been looking for. I'm looking forward to working behind the scenes to the benefit of the team. I know that I can fulfil this role at BMW. Of course, already knowing our riders Troy and Ruben well makes my job easier.2010 will be a tough year, as there are many good riders and teams in the Superbike World Championship. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that BMW can take a big step forward over the coming year."
Tardozzi rode in motorcycle races himself from 1984 to 1992. In his first two seasons he competed in the 250 cc World Championship and later moved to the Superbike class. He finished third in the 1988 Superbike World Championship after racking up five race wins, and in 1991 he secured the European Superbike Championship title. Tardozzi has remained involved - and continued to enjoy success - in motorcycle racing since bringing the curtain down on his career as a rider. Since 1995, as a team principal, he has won a total of nine manufacturers' titles and eight riders' titles in the Superbike World Championship.

THE DUCATI XEROX TEAM DEFINES ITS NEW STRUCTURE FOR THE 2010 SBK SEASON
Bologna (Italy), Thursday 7th January 2010 - Just a few days before the 2010 Superbike season officially gets going with testing at Portimao from 22nd January, the Ducati Xerox Team confirms that it has undergone some significant internal reorganization.
With Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio both back on board their Ducati 1198s for 2010, a series of structural changes within Ducati have allowed for a certain degree of reorganization within the Ducati Xerox team.
Ernesto Marinelli is the newly appointed Ducati Xerox Team manager, and so stepping into Marinelli's shoes as technical manager of the squad is Marco Lozej who will also have the role of track engineer for Michel Fabrizio. With Ducati since 2000, Marco has most recently been responsible for the GP development team.
Japanese rider Haga also has a new track engineer in the shape of Luca Ferraccioli, who returns to the Borgo-Panigale factory after a four year stint as race engineer with the British GSE Racing outfit. Working alongside Luca, in the role of electronics engineer to Noriyuki, will be Marco Frigerio who moves from the factory MotoGP team to the Superbike side for the coming season. The final change on Haga' s side is the appointment of a new tyre technician, Massimo Meneghin.
The final addition to the "new-look" team is Una Conway, Irish and in Italy for more than a decade, who comes on board as Team Coordinator and Hospitality Assistant.
“2010 will be a little different but I am extremely confident as well as optimisticâ€, commented Ernesto Marinelli, the Ducati Xerox Team Manager.
Despite the important reorganization within the team, in reality most of the new members have already been working in Ducati for some time. Both Marco Lozej and Luca Ferraccioli have worked in Ducati for years and have a wealth of experience as well as great technical ability and personality. 2010 once again represents a new challenge - we have faced many over the years and in most cases we have come out victorious. We will be doing our very best to take another title this year; our riders are in great shape and the entire team is more motivated than ever. We’re all impatient to get back on track and are looking forward to the Portimao test.

Metric OEM exports’ falloff reaches 100,000-plus motorcycles

December 31, 2009- Metric manufacturers shipped at least 100,000 fewer motorcycles to the United States in a recent three-month period compared to a year ago, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
The latest sign of the significant export decrease came from November data. JAMA members, which include Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki, shipped 5,553 motorcycles to the United States in November, a 84 percent drop from the year-ago month.
In the past three months, JAMA members have sent 15,812 motorcycles to the United States. In comparison, that number topped 118,000 in the prior year.
Export falloffs also have occurred in Canada. Exports there in November fell 67.5 percent to 875.
Roger Edmondson to Leave AMA Pro Racing
DAYTONA BEACH, FL December 30, 2009 - Roger Edmondson will be leaving his position as Chairman, Managing Member and Chief Executive Officer of AMA Pro Racing effective January 1, 2010.
Edmondson, a pioneer in motorcycle racing and one of the original Managing Members of the AMA Pro Racing organization (actualy owned by the Daytona Motorsports Group), will be leaving to deal with some unforeseen health issues that necessitate his full attention.
"Roger's health is first and foremost in our minds," said David Atlas, Chief Operating Officer, AMA Pro Racing. "Roger's significant, multi-decade contribution to motorcycle racing is well known but nothing is more important than his health."
Edmondson will available to consult with the management of AMA Pro Racing but his official duties will be reallocated among the other current Managing Members, David Atlas, Tom Bledsoe and Chris Harris.
The 2010 AMA Pro Racing season will again open at the famous Daytona International Speedway, March 3-5, headlined by the Daytona 200 held under the lights at the 2.5-mile World Center of Racing followed by a full season of Road Racing, Flat Track and Motocross events.

Zemke to Jordan Suzuki
Jan 1st, 2009 - It appears fan favorite Jake Zemke will have a ride for 2010 after all. And a good one at that. With who? Jordan Suzuki.
You heard it here first! Reputable sources tell us that Aaron Yates has re-signed to ride the No. 23 machine while his teammate on the No. 54 Jordan Motorsports bike will be Zemke, with previous rider Geoff May no longer on the team. This comes as somewhat of a surprise considering the relationship the team has had with May. Regardless, they are getting a talented and always popular rider in Zemke.
The 2008 Formula Xtreme Champion has a host of AMA Pro Racing wins to his name, though most on a 600cc machine, including five in FX and one in Supersport during his championship season. He does have three Superbike wins to his credit, two coming for Erion Honda at Brainerd International Raceway and Mid-Ohio, while the other was for the factory Honda squad at Miller Motorsports Park aboard the previous generation CBR1000RR in the midst of the Mladin-Spies era, proving to be one of the only riders to break their dominate win streak. This is important as out source tells us Zemke will be riding in American Superbike on a Suzuki GSX-R1000. Also of note, Zemke has a Daytona 200 win to his name, coming in ’06 for the Erion team.
The Paso Robles, California native makes the switch to Suzuki after nine years aboard Hondas, something that could prove to be challenging for the versatile rider. Though with a team as solid as the Gemini-run Jordan group behind him, one would think the 34-year-old veteran will quickly be on pace.
No word yet if National Guard has re-upped as the title sponsor of the team or if Zemke will run under Jordan colors.

Jan 3rd - Roehr Motorcycles LLC, the maker of the fastest and most powerful American production sportbike, the 180hp,1250sc, will introduce a line of electric sport and racing motorcycles in the spring of this year.
The new eRoehr model range will consist of two models, the powerful eSuperbike and the lower spec'd eSupersport.
Both models will feature state-of-the-art AC induction motor, and advanced high energy, Lithium ion battery technologies.
Fresh, modern styling, combined with advanced electric vehicle drive technology will raise the standards of electric motorcycle performance and desirability to new levels.
The powerful new electric eSuperbike model will feature 96 hp, and 210 lb/ft of torque and a high energy discharge, 10 Kwh, lithium iron phosphate battery pack.This results in a machine capable of high top speeds, and blistering acceleration that only the seamless and instantaneous torque of electric motor drive can provide.
The eSuperbike will also feature premium suspension and brake components, providing race level performance and safety margins.
The eSupersport model features a 48 hp, 105 lb/ft of torque, AC induction motor, with a high energy 6 Kwh Lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The eSupersport will be the entry level of electric sportbike performance, providing a 100 mph top speed with smooth and effortless acceleration.
The powerful eSuperbike will be the basis of Roehr Motorcycles' entry into the upcoming 2010 US TTXGP series. Roehr Motorcycles will also be offering race prepared versions of the eSuperbike for teams or individuals competing in the upcoming TTXGP, and FIM e-Power racing series'.

to Bring Formula One to Streets of Rome
Dec 20th - Bernie Ecclestone has agreed a deal that will see Formula 1 come to Rome's streets, says course planner Maurizio Flammini, founder and producer of SBK World Superike
"The agreement with F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone to give life to the Rome Grand Prix has already been done and signed," he said. "The appropriate course still has to be defined."
Italy already has a grand prix on the world championship circuit, in Monza. There were fears when plans for a Rome grand prix were first mooted that it would replace the historic track which has been a more or less permanent fixture in the Formula One calendar since 1922.
However, the mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, insists it will serve as a second Italian grand prix. "We think the Rome Grand Prix would be very important and we are in favour of it," he said. "And it's not true that it is an alternative to Monza.
"Monza is a grand prix on the circuit, and the grand prix of Rome is integrative to that of Monza, it's not a replacement.
"We have calculated that there will be an income of one billion euros a year with this grand prix and Rome needs to renew its

A Rome grand prix, raced through the streets of the Italian capital much like that of Monaco, has been in planning for more than a year and a half. And Flammini, the creator of the idea, has revealed they have now been given the green light by Ecclestone.
