The new KTM 990cc RC8 Superbike Prototype.

2004 KTM 990 RC8 Superbike Prototype

Tokyo Motor Show, October 21th: KTM, one of the world's leading off-road bike manufacturers is expanding its motorcycle product line into the streetbike market. The bike shown here is their RC8 "concept" or first prototype of their e new KTM superbike. The bike employs a proven Ducati style chromoly tube frame with a stressed member 990cc 75-degree V-Twin engine of KTM's own manufacture. The design is very simple and clean, and features a few new innovations like the under seat fuel tank, complete under engine exhaust system, and dry sump lubrication (oil tank in the swingarm?). KTM's entry into the sportbike market will be spearheaded with this new leading edge superbike and a factory team entry in the 2006 World Superbike Championship. Compete Details and Pictures HERE

165 horsepower and 178 kilos are astounding figures, but not as astounding as the competition. The new CBR1000RR will have a 2nd row start against the other new Japanese 1000cc superbikes.

2004 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Superbike
Honda has finally been pushed into building a purpose built, full 1000cc in-line four cylinder superbike. They flogged the previous 1992-based design with two capacity changes and the introduction of fuel injection until Suzuki's brilliant GSXR1000 let them know they needed to start with a new piece of paper.

The previous generation Honda CBR 919 / 929 / 954cc bike was origionally conceived as a 750cc superbike until Honda of Japan big wigs figured it might just beat and rob glory from their hi-tech corporate flagship V-four RC45. So they overbored the new in-line four cylinder CBR750 and made it a lightweight Open class bike where it didn't have much competition in the mid 1990's until Yamaha and Suzuki's purpose built R1 and GSXR 1000cc machines came along.

The current Honda SP2 / RC51 V-twin factory superbike many still have to carry the American Honda banner in AMA Superbike again in 2004 because it is a highly developed race winner and American Honda probably won't time to develop the late arriving CBR1000RR for AMA superbike in 2004 with Daytona just 4 months away..

Still, American Honda's support team, Erion Racing will probably race the new CBR1000RR in the AMA's unquestionably stupid and repetitive 1000cc Superstock or Formula Extreame class where it can be competitive against its equally undeveloped or non factory supported Japanese brethern. But in SBK World Superbike, the reigning 600 Supersport Champs the Ken Tate Honda team will move up and race the new CBR1000RR with sponsorship from Honda Europe. The team will probably have back door development help and race parts from HRA of Japan, a privilage not offered to American Honda for political reasons.

Additional Details, Pictures, Specs of the Honda CBR1000RR HERE.

on Television

You will be watching on Wednesday Nov 19th 10/9 pm on CBS as Victoria's Secret kicks off the holiday season with their 2003 fashion show with a special performance by Sting.

Last year's broadcast was disappointing with poor direction, editing, and cameras that were always out of focus. And far too many jiggling butts with models on the catwalk who didn't work out, with the lone exception of hardbody Naomi Campbell. Hopefully this year will be better.

Meanwhile, we do highly recommend the new TV series SKIN on Fox Mondays featuring sexy young Cameron Richardson and FastDates.com Calendar girl and adult fim star Jessica Drake.

Its a modern day version of Romeo & Juliett, with waring families in city government and the porn industry, with Cameron's porn mogul father the good guy!

Miss Great Britain 2003 Nicki Lane in the pits with Neil Hodgson's Ducati Fila 999F03 Superbike. The Fast Dates Calendar girls including Nicki were again tthis year the official Team Ducati Corse umbrella girls at the 2003 Laguna Seca USA round of the World Superbike Championship.

FastDates.com model Miss Great Britain 2003 Nicki Lane pairs
with Ducati Corse World Champ and fellow Brit, Neil Hodgson

History was made as "Nicki" Nicola Lane, formerly Miss Great Britain 1999, became the first girl to ever win her home country's national Miss World title twice. One of our favorite calendar models, Nicki was sponsored by the FastDates.com Motorsports Calendars and Websitefor the 2003 Miss Great Britain pageant leading up to this year's Miss World competition. Nicki wore a FastDates.com sash on stage during portions of her competition and when she was crowned at the end.

Nicki Lane will be familiar to American sportbike fans who may have seen her in America last summer 2002 where she was working with FastDates.com, serving as an official SBK World Superbike Fast Dates Calendar model at Laguna Seca World Superbike shooting for the calendar in the paddock with the top factory race bikes, and on Sunday Nicki also served as the official Team Ducati Corse umbrella girl for SBK World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss.

Nicki again returned to America this year at the invitation of FastDates.com Calendar producer Jim Gianatsis and Paolo Ciabatti, Marketing Director at Ducati Corse, to be a Fast Dates Calendar model at Laguna Seca World Superbike where she also served as official Ducati Corse team umbrella girls on Sunday for the former British Superbike National Champion and now 2003 World Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson. "We couldn't be more pleased to have FastDates.com be part of a such a world class championship winning combination." said Paolo Ciabatti.

"I really had an incredible time coming back to California with FastDates.com in July for the 2003 World Superbike race at Laguna Seca and shooting with Neil's Ducati 999F for next year's Fast Dates calendar, as well as being Neil's umbrella girl on the starting grid. It really was a busy and wonderfully exciting weekend! Now I'm off to Hong Kong for the 2003 Miss World Finals -so wish me luck. Cheers!" -Nicki Lane, Miss Great Britain 1999 and 2003.

Nicki is featured on the cover and inside the currently available 2004 Fast Dates Calendar sponsored by Performance Machine, Corona Suzuki, and MotoWheels.com with many of the top world superbikes including Troy Bayliss' factory Ducati 998F-02 photographed at last year's Laguna Seca SBK round. And in the 2004 Garage Girls Calendar with other SBK Fast Dates Calendar model and Ducati Corse umbrella girls Chandi Mason and Janelle Perzina. Both Nicki, Chandi and Janelle will be featured in the 2005 Fast Dates available this next July 2004, with no doubt, a picture similar to the one here of Nicki with Neil Hodgson's championship winning Ducati 999F03 on the cover.

Find out more about Nicki Lane in Meet the Models. She more of Nicki with Team Ducati Corse at Laguna Seca in Fast Dates Calendar News. Purchase Nicki's 2004 FastDates.com Calendars. See a lot more of Nicki in her very revealing pictorials in Members Corner.

MotoGP 2004 Rider Lineup
waiting for Rossi's shoe to drop on Monday after final Valencia Race

Valencia, Italy, Oct 30th: Next year's MotoGP rider lineup will all come come down to the wire after this weekend in Valencia, Spain, site of the final round of the MotoGP World Championship. One rider's decission will have a domino affect through the MotoGP and World Superbike grids, including the the AMA Superbike championship.

Repsol Honda’s five-time World Champion Valentino Rossi will set the dominos in motion when he makes the announcement who he will be riding for in 2004, and it most certainly won't be Honda. At Thursday’s MotoGP press conference Valentino said he he had no news yet about his future, but that a senior Honda representative (HRC Managing Director Koiji Nakajima) was on his way to Spain from Japan, where he would make an announcement on Sunday, after the race. The word is that Rossi and Honda are parting ways, the rumor that has has been running rampant for weeks.

Valentino's new ride seems to be Yamaha, although which team isn’t certain.Still in the ring is Marlboro Ducati, with a very senior Phillip Morris (parent company of Marlboro) executive expected to turn up at Valencia on Friday. Marlboro has the most resources to throw at Rossi, but the Italian has repeatedly said it’s not about the money. Although we still think the young Italian hero would rather win his next (or final before retirement) championship titles on an Italian marque rather than Japanese.

The unresolved question is who will team with Nicky Hayden in Valentino's seat on the factory Repsol Honda squad? Alex Barros, currently enduring a through a lack luster season on the Gauloises Yamaha, is being considered, partly because the Brazilian could bring added revenue from Repsol YPF, the South American arm of Repsol, the largest oil company in Spain and current Honda team sponsor. Alex won a number of races when he switched from the two-stroke Honda NSR-500 to the Honda RC-211V in 2002 and any success he might have would validate the feeling among certain people at Honda who aren't trying very hard to keep Rossi, because they believe it's the bike, not the rider, that matters.

Colin Edwards, meanwhile, is almost certain to be going back to his home at Honda where he won two World Superbike titles. On Friday, Edwards is expected to announce that he’ll be with the Telefonica MoviStar Honda team as the teammate of MotoGP runner-up Sete Gibernau. That would leave GP rookie Ryuichi Kiyonari without a ride.

Noriyuki Haga, Edwards’ Alice Aprilia teammate, is among those in the mix to head to America. Haga spoke with Paolo Ciabbati, Ducati’s World Superbike and AMA marketing director, at the final WSB round in Imola and has been telling people that he's headed for the America.

The rider expected to be taking the Ducati ride in the U.S. is Spaniard Ruben Xaus. But Ruben would rather move to MotoGP on the expected Luis d’Antin Ducati team with WSB Champion Neil Hodgson, also en route to Valencia where he’ll announce that he’s joining the d’Antin team. Current wisdom suggests d’Antin will keep Shinya Nakano, simply because he knows the tracks and is a solid top 10 performer. If Nakano stays, and there’s no room for Xaus, look for the Spaniard to make the reluctant move to the Ducati Austin team.

Also visiting Valencia was Kurtis Roberts, formerly of Erion Honda, who has already said he won’t be in America next year. If Curtis moves to MotoGP, the most probable spot would be on his father’s Proton KR team, though the current riders, Jeremy McWilliams and Nobu Aoki have recently both lauded the progress of the five-cylinder and expressed the desire to remain with the team. There is that empty seat at Aprilia....
