Above: Josh Ryan explains the importance of creating a “Mood Board” for any important shoot,
where the photographer assembles examples of the type of photos he’d like to shot to show the Client and
the Models for their approval, to his Crew of make-up artist, stylist, lighting assistants, and to serve as a
guide for the photographer to reference during the shoot.
Left: Sophie alongside the pool in the Residence, which is half covered by the slanted concrete
ceiling shared with the living area, and the other half of the pool is outdoors on the infinity patio overlooking
Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. Both the inside floors of th Residence and the outdoor patio share the
same concrete slap embedded with small polished stones.
Right: Sophie stands next to the “Mood Boards” to help show us the style of our model shoots
for today at the Workshop. These pictures are from Josh’s own portfolio taken in previous shoots at the
Residence. For a different fashion shoot, the photographer can assemble pictures they like, cut or copied
from magazine advertising and editorial, catalogs, and even their own guide sketches.
