Wheels and Tires
Both versions of the new Panigale V2 are equipped with 3.50 x 17” light alloy
wheels at the front and 5.50 X 17” at the rear, 1 kg lighter than the previous ones, which
mount Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires in the sizes 120/70 and 90/55. The choice of the 190/55
size of the rear tyre combines handling and footprint, offering maximum support even at
the lean angles typical of circuit riding.
For circuit use only, it is possible to mount Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks with
a 180/60 or 190/60 rear, the same size used in the Supersport World Championship.
High-performance compounds such as the SC0 or the super soft SCX, exclusive for
the 190/60, designed for time attack, are available for these tires.
Brakes
The new Panigale V2 is equipped with a Brembo system that ensures high braking
efficiency accompanied by precision linearity between applied force and braking
response. The double front disc is 320 mm, while the rear disc is 245 mm.
The front system calipers are monobloc M50 with four 30 mm pistons, character-
ized by a compact design that allows a weight saving of 140 grams per caliper compared
to the previous M4.32. The monobloc construction offers rigidity and resistance to
deformation in most extreme braking, which in turn translates into better precision and sensitivity
at the brake lever. The front system is controlled by a Brembo PR16/21 radial pump, which
combines a high feeling with braking power that is a benchmark for the segment.
Electronics
The new Panigale V2 is equipped with a latest-generation electronics package,
with controls and functions derived from those of the Panigale V4. The functions are
managed through a 5” TFT 16:9 dashboard and a “petal” joystick on completely new
blocks. To emphasize the cleanliness and elegance of the new dashboard, the physical
warning lights have been removed from the external mask and moved inside the display
with the sole exception of the red LED over-revving indicator. The rev counter and the gear
indicator flash with a pulsating effect and turn green to indicate the moment of the gear
change, and red to signal the intervention of the limiter. During running-in, the rev counter
turns orange when the recommended number of revs is exceeded.
The screen has three display modes (Info Modes) called Road, Road Pro and
Track (all with automatic switching between night or day backlighting) which differ in the
type of information shown and the relative graphic presentation. Using the “joystick” on the
handlebars it is possible to switch directly between one Info Mode and another while riding.
The Road display is designed to provide essential information when riding on the
road. The circular rev counter bar occupies the entire right-hand side of the display, with
the gear indicator in the centre. The speed and selected Riding Mode are on the left.
The on-board computer data are in the four corners of the display: fuel level, time,
coolant temperature and air temperature.
The Road Pro variant increases the density of information displayed, moving the
rev counter to the centre to leave space on the left for the percentage levels of power and
torque delivered. The parameters of the selected Riding Mode are visible on the right.
The Track Info Mode features a straight rev counter bar, positioned along the entire
length of the upper part of the display. The gear indicator increases in size compared to
the Road view, while the speed indicator diminishes.
On the left side is the information of the Lap Timer Pro, if installed (GPS signal, lap
time, split time, lap number and current session, signal of improvement of split time and
lap time in absolute terms or with reference to the session as on the Panigale V4).
On the right side, the display shows the Riding Mode parameters, allowing you to
vary the level of intervention of each individual control while riding, and showing the
activation of each in real time.
The dashboard also allows Bluetooth pairing with a smart phone and a
communication system on the helmet to play music, answer calls and listen to the
instructions of the Turn-by-turn navigator accessory, if installed.
Latest-generation electronic controls
The new Panigale V2 is equipped with modern and sophisticated electronics,
based on the use of the 6-axis inertial platform, capable of instantly detecting the roll, yaw
and pitch angles of the bike. The electronic package of the Panigale V2 consists of:
• ABS Braking and Cornering • Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0
• Engine Brake Control (EBC) • Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC)
• Ducati Traction Control (DTC) • Riding Modes: Wet, Road, Sport, Track
