Randy Hocker's 1st place Pro Builder winning bike 2006 was the first year at the LACalendar Motorcycle Show we let the Calendar Bike Building Championship entrants vote for the top bikes in their own class. After awarding high points scorer Russ Hess' bike "Art Attack" the Performance machine Best of Show award, Randy Hocker's beautiful chrome yellow drag custom took First Place Pro Class Builder honors. Randy came down from Loveland Colorado in his first extradinary attempt to take on the top builders in America at our Calendar Show and he did an exemplitory job. Randy formerly built bikes under his own company name of Phat Rides Cutom Cycles, but now he has joined in a partnership with Red Hill Motorcycle Werx, also located in Loveland. What we like about Rany's Show winner is its clean, simple beatury and functionality. No gaudy airbrush graphics or multi colot paint to another copy cat custom, but rather, keep it simple and unique. The bike emplys an electrical power pump for the rear air shock spring to drop it to the ground when parked to immediately grb your attention. Then your eyes find the other unique details like the single sided swingarm, the beautifuly moulded-in frame and bodywork, no obvious fuel tank filler cap, and the air powered pop-out license plate frame / tail light below the rider's saddle on the left side, and a hidden brake inside the primary cover. Note the often ignored details like the full finished underside of the gas tank, or the hidden throttle cable and controls that most other Pro Builders might ignore. Not Randy. Congratulations Randy, great job!
