Richard Pollock has been building flat track racing inspired customer street bike for decades out
of his home garage. He calls his company Mule Motorcycles and the bikes he builds are called “Street Trackers”.
Richard was an aerospace machinist by profession, building parts for everything from cruise missiles
to jet aircraft for a big-name aerospace company in the San Diego area. But his passion
has always been surfing, riding and racing dirt bikes - and in particular flat track and
supermoto. And of course, building his own race bikes with the engineering design
and precision of fighter jet.
We first met Richard some 20 years ago when he entered one of his custom built
Mule Streetrackers in the Calendar Bike building Championship of our Los Angels Calendar
Motorcycle Show. And of course his bike won its class and was featured in the next
FastDates Calendars. Ever since then we have featured one of Richard’s new Mule
Streetrackers in the Calendars nearly every year. He bases his Streetrackers on many
different models of bikes, but he is particularly fond of working with Harley Sportsters,
Yamaha SR650 singles, and the new generation Triumph Bonnevilles like the bike featured
here. His new found exposure over the years being featured in the FastDates Calendars
and on the internet quickly grew his bike building hobby into a thriving business with
customers coming to him from around the world.
Richard recently retired from the aerospace industry and moved away from Southern
California to his new forever home in Boise, Idaho, where he devotes himself full time to
building customer bikes. When we spoke to him to get a little background information on
this Orange Triumph Bonneville Streetracker featured here and in the 2025 Iron & Lace
Calendar, he told us he had a back order of some 30 new bikes to build! We’re guessing
that retirement isnt working out too well for Richard, which is just fine for him!
