Hollywood, as it did for many Hollywood celebrities and Rock 'n' Roll stars. I soon met owners Michael Eisenberg and Max Hushahn when in 1993 they graciously allowed me to do one of my FastDates.com Iron & Lace Calendar photo shoots next to their retro-painted restaurant and motorcycle store with old gas station pumps.
My first Iron & Lace Calendar shoot at Thunder Road featured a custom Mars Fast Frame Harley-Davidson Big Twin powered sport bike with a sexy curly hair blonde model named Kerry Devlin that appeared in the 1995 Calendar. As an interesting aside to all of this, Eisenberg met and married one of my models from a few years earlier, beautiful Lori Dorough who appeared in magazine ads and catalogs that I produced. Unfortunately, my favorite dining and shooting location would be gutted and closed from a major fire in 1994 and would be closed for a few years as it was sold to new owners and was rebuilt. This forced Eisenberg and Hushahn to part ways as Max needed to find a new location in Hollywood, now back down on Santa Monica Boulevard where he once first began, to keep his motorcycle side of the business going.
I'll let Max pick up his story from here. More than just a biker and businessman, Max Hushahn, now 60 years, thinks of himself as an artist. "Just being a used car salesperson, used motorcycle person...I would have stopped years ago. Even when the market was good it would have been boring for me, but building custom bikes and selling them to celebrities made it fun." The German-born proprietor since 1994 has his legendary motorcycle shop Thunder Road Classic Cycles on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Poinsettia Drive in Hollywood.
