Shooting the 2009
Iron & Lace Calendar
By Jim Gianatsis
I had two principal shoots for this years calendar in an attempt to kil many birds with one camer shoot. The first was a location shoot a the work shops shared by Jesse Rooke and Todd Silicatio - Todd's Cycle. Joining me for the multi bike shoot which was filed by WATV for SpeedTv were two of our prettiest Calendar Kittens, Tamara Witmer and Corona Skiner.
The second major shoot for this year's Calendar again came the day after the 2007 LA Calendar Bike Show Weekend to photograph the winning bikes at Rhys Adobe ranch in Calabassas, CA, next to the famed biker hangout The Sagebrush Cantina. I trusted fate by booking to all new models I'd never met before, Katerina Van Deerhan and Carrie Ann Stroup.
Carrie Ann snared the cover with Greg Westbury's best of Show winning bike, and I liked her look in front of the camera so much, as I'm sure you'll agree, I had her back for many more calendar and adverting shoots.
My two other shoots, one at the Queen Mary which was also used for our 2008 Bike Show ad campaign, and one in my studio with two new Shinya Kimura retro racers featured beautiful Playboy model Tiffany Toth.

Tiffany Toth
The Models:
• This year we had two beautiful new discoveries for the 2009 Iron & Lace Calendar, who we also featured in our other calendars Fast Dates and Garage Girls.
Tiffany Toth has been modeling for the Playboy Website and their newsstand specials. She also was photographed as a Playboy Playmate but her centerfold was never published. Hugh Hefner must be getting old....because Tiffany is incredible and we are excited to have her in the Calendar. Tiffany also shares the cover of Garage Girls 2009.
Our other new favorite find is cover girl Carrie Ann Stroup, who is also featured on the cover and inside Fast Dates 2009, and in Garage Girls 2009. We also photographed Carrie for calendar sponsor Mikuni Carburetor's new ad campaign "Fantasies" a copy of the ad of which appears on Calendar page 2.
Returning again this year in Iron & Lace is Playboy Playmates Tamara Witmer and Miss August 2005 and Calendar Kitten Cora Skinner both who joined us both days at the 2006 and 2007 LA Calendar Motorcycle Shows.
Builders featured in the IL09 Calendar include:
•
Greg Westbury of Westbury Hot Rods, Concord, CA, took Best of Show at the 2007 LA Calendar Motorcycle Show.

* Ron Simms is one of the legendary West Cast builders who has had his bikes featured in the Iron & lace calendars since the early 1990s. Ron brought us a number of bikes to photograph this year, the day after the LA calendar Show, but we were so filled up with bike to put in the calendar we had to narrow it down to just one, a beautiful original 1919 factory Harley Davidson board track racer.
