Calendar Marketing Tips
Distributors Please remember, the Annual Calendar Selling Season changes over July 1st, mid-way though your Main Catalog Year, when the next season's calendars become available, so it is critical that you always:

1. Include Both the Current and Upcoming (2) years of the FastDates.com Calendars in your Main Products Catalogs.
For your 2009 Main Catalogs you will want to include both the 2009 and 2010 Calendars, etc. You need to do this to help close out any remaining inventory of current 2009 Calendars on January 1st when your new Catalog is released, and to assure that your dealers will begin ordering the new 2010 Calendars when they become available on July 1st, 2009. Etc.

2. Do Not Emphasize the Calendar's Year in your annual parts catalog.
Just show the Calendar covers with their name and descriptive text. Headline the page "FastDates.com Calendars" (without the year) and say:
"New Season Calendars available July 1st! Calendars are a full 16-months beginning with Sept 1st to assure you, the dealers a long selling season - so order early in the summer!"

4. Remember, our Calendars are 16-month calendars beginning in September, to help you maintain a strong sell through all year long.
You want to get the new Calendars into your dealers starting in July preceding the Cover Year.

5. Always Begin promoting the new season calendars on July 1st in your dealer supplements and mailers, retail advertising and through your sales reps.

6. OR BETTER YET:
We think the way for Distributors to sell Calendars is to automatically ship each of your dealers (5-10) calendars on consignment August 1st, then biil them for them in 90 days. I bet they will have sold out. If not, they can choose to pay, keep and sell the remaining balance or return them undamage to you to sell elsewhere.

7. Offer your dealers a Free POP Calendar Counter top display with their initial 10 calendar order. This puts the Calendars out front in their store where customers can see and buy them.

8. On December 1st you need to up sell / close out any remaining the new season's Calendars. Dealers will stop ordering them after Christmas, and customers will stop buying then come March 1st of the Calendar year. So you should always make it your goal to move out all your Calendar inventory by December 25th, even if it means reducing the price or giving them away.

9. Come January you might want to include a few copies of each calendar, not charge, in each large outgoing dealer order.
It's a good way to thank them from buying from you, it exposes them to the Calendars if they are not already carrying them, and it allows them yuo blow them out to their own customers at a reduced price so they can prime their customers for the next year.
And it's a marketing expense, tax write off for you.

DO NOT LET UNSOLD CALENDAR INVENTORY SIT IN YOU WAREHOUSE AND GO TO WASTE when it can continue to be used for marketing and promotion for the next season.

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the
Mikuni, Performance Machine and SBK World Superbike Championship endorsed
2010 FastDates.com CalendarsFast Dates, Iron & Lace, Garage Girls

Los Angeles, CA, August 1st 2009 - It's been 20 years since motorsports racing and fashion photographer Jim Gianatsis first produced the Fast Dates Racebike Swimsuit Model PinUp Calendar. The first 1991 edition of the then Mikuni Fast Dates Calendar premiered in the summer of 1990 featuring a then unknown Playboy Playmate on the cover named Pamela Anderson, posing in a pink bikini in the saddle of Miguel Duhamel's Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R750L AMA Superbike. Then published by Mikuni American, the Calendar was used as a marketing promotion to showcase all the top racing bikes of the time which used Mikuni carburetors. Since then the Calendar has featured all the world's top racing motorcycles from Wayne Rainey to Valentino Rossi's MotoGP winners, and the World Superbikes of Doug Polen to Troy Bayliss.

A little know fact, but there actually were earlier Mikuni Calendars, but the public never got to see them. In the 1980s Mikuni purchased pre printed nude model calendars from a printer in Japan imprinted them with Mikuni's company name, and sent them out to distributors and friends at Christmas time. Gianatsis Design became Mikuni American's ad agency in 1987 and Jim convinced them it might be fun to publish their own nude calendar and incorporate the Mikuni carburetors in the pictures. The first original Mikuni Calendar was published for 1990 and featured Jim's photo of Playboy Playmate Terri Lynn Doss on the cover holding a Mikuni carburetor, while inside they continued with stock photos of nude models. The calendar was advertised in in Cycle News that fall and sold out the complete print run.

For 1991 Jim and Mikuni's sales manager Lee Chapin wanted to try and offer them retail in motorcycle dealers through Mikuni distributors, but they knew nude pinup model calendars couldn't be sold in a family visited motorcycle dealerships, so the new 1991 Fast Dates Calendar was photographed with all the models in swimsuits or lingerie with top racing bikes that used Mikuni carburetors and Fast Dates was born. In successive years other Mikuni Calendars were made for their other markets: Berm Busters motocross, Hot Waves personal watercraft, Iron & Lace custom bikes, Ripped Pavement roadracing action and Garage Girls pinups. Over the years as the markets have changed, and swimsuit calendars have become less acceptable in America culture, some of those titles have come and gone, and Mikuni American turned over their Calendar program to Gianatsis Design.

Now known as the FastDates.com Calendars, for Calendars are home to the world's most popular swimsuit model and motorcycle themed website featuring custom streetbike, sportbike, beautiful model and racing news, tuning performance, books and movies, and photo features. The Calendars have achieved a strong world-wide marketing program and fan base. And Calendar in turn have spun off the annual LA Calendar Motorcycle Show Weekend each July, now in its 18th year, America's premier streetbike event weekend. For 13 years the Fast Dates racebike calendar has been the official calendar of SBK World Superbike Championship, and the Calendar Kittens often serve as the official grid girls for the World Championship winning Ducati Corse team.
